The Canadian Ball Hockey Association (CBHA), which was founded in 1977, has played an integral role in the growth and development of the sport at the international level. Our nation has quickly built a heritage of success on the international field, and currently are the reigning world champions at the U16, U18 and U20 levels.

Junior Team players are scouted mainly at the annual National Junior Championships, with some advance scouting being done at large provincial events with eight or more junior teams participating. In order to be considered for Junior Team Canada, players are encouraged to qualify for their provincial team(s) competing at the Nationals, because a player's ability is more effectively measured against the best competition available.

The CBHA, established in 1977, is a proud Associate Member of Hockey Canada. With some 70,000, aged 6 to 30, playing in registered leagues across our country every summer, the sport is recognized as a growing force in amateur athletics, and clearly represents the grass roots level of hockey because its ease of play and inexpensiveness attracts peoples of all ethnic and economic backgrounds.

Our National Junior Team program will include players, aged 14/15 (U16), 16/17 (U18) and 18 and 19 (U20), from across Canada. After applying the limited funding, the out of pocket expense to these players is a staggering $2,500 each, for flights, accommodations, ground transportation, medical & training supplies, team doctor, and equipment. With this cost, we risk alienating some of our best athletes and denying them of a tremendous life experience. The corporate donations and contributions will be used to reduce the financial burden of the players.

Each of the Junior Team Canada squads feature 22-24 players from across the country and will face stiff competition from the perennial favourites Czech Republic, Slovakia, and the U.S.A. However, our biggest challenge is fund raising for the trips with a budget in excess of $80,000. These events are expected to have as many as twelve teams competing for the prestigious International Street & Ball Hockey Federation's World Junior Championship Cup at the respective division of play.
